The Chinese - Mandarin and Cantonese Language At Cornell
The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell offers courses in both Mandarin and Cantonese dialects of Chinese.

Mandarin
In the Mandarin program, instruction is provided in the regular 4-year language format and in an intensive one-year program.

The regular Mandarin language program provides instruction from beginning to advanced. The program also offers a separate track for students of Chinese heritage.

The IMPAC (Intensive Mandarin Program At Cornell), formerly a part of the FALCON Program, is run by Cornellís Department of Asian Studies. IMPAC provides beginning and intermediate Mandarin students with the equivalent of one full year of college Chinese instruction in nine weeks of intensive study.

Cantonese

The Cantonese program offers three years of study for non-heritage learners, and two years of study for heritage learners.

Cornell Area Program Affiliation: East Asia Program
The East Asia Program serves as the hub of a campus-wide network of East Asia specialists and as a forum for discussion of East Asian history, culture, and modern affairs.
