Twentieth-Century Chinese Literature introduces landmark texts in English translation selected from fiction, poetry, and theater, beginning in the last decade of the Qing Empire and concluding in the 1990's. The course stresses both close reading of individual texts and discussion of the historical circumstances of cultural production primarily in China, but also including Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
