    Cornell has a subscription to SCOLA, a service that rebraodcasts news and cultural TV broadcasts in more than 50 languages. These can be used without restriction for educational purposes in class and on the web.
  • Using Quicktime Pro to Edit Video
    Quicktime Pro is available in Mac and Windows. It lets you do basic editing of video and sound files, copying, cutting, pasting and adding text to video.
  • Adding Text to a Video with Quicktime Pro
    Quicktime Pro ($30) will let you add your own text like subtitles to a video quite simply.

Converting Video to QuickTime (.mov)

  • Converting Web Video to QuickTime in Windows
    Prism is a free trial program that will allow you to easily convert downloaded video to QuickTime format for editing and use in Teacher Workbooks and online streaming.
  • Converting Web Video to QuickTime in Mac OSX
    MPEG Streamclip is a free program that will allow you to easily convert downloaded video to QuickTime format for editing and use in Teacher Workbooks and online streaming.
  • Converting Any Video for Free On-Line with Zamzar
    Zamzar is a free on-line file conversion resource that allows you to upload any video file in almost any format (up to 100 MB) to be converted to QuickTime and more. Once your file is converted, you are sent an email with a download link to your new file. Works for both PC and Mac.
  • Exporting Video
    If you are playing a video in Quicktime but it is not Quicktime format (for example, if it is from YouTube), if it is too large a file size, or if it is not the right window size/shape, you need to "export" the video from Quicktime. This will create a new file with the characteristics you need.
