Overview of the Cornell Scandinavian Club
The Scandinavian Club has a tradition at Cornell University. It is the focal point for Scandinavians and friends of Scandinavia from different backgrounds. The Scandinavian region is located in northern
Europe and includes Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and geo-politically connected areas, such as Sá
pmi and Greenland.

Events summer and fall 2008
Events arranged during summer and fall 2008 by the Scandinavian Club and/or the Swedish language program included:
- Lucia Party in December 2008 which featured a Christmas buffet, Lucia procession, fiddle music, ringdans till "Nu är det jul igen", and socializing. The Lucia Fest was hosted by Cherie Wendelken and her family.
- A weekly Scandinavian Coffee Hour at the Big Red Barn and a monthly Scandinavian film series throughtout fall 2008
- Monthly dinners at the Nines in Collegetown thoroughout summer and fall 2008
- Information outreach at Clubfest 2008 and the International Student Orientation Fair in August 2008

Weekly Scandinavian coffee hour
Speakers
of Scandinavian languages and students of Swedish are invited to fun and informal meetings for socializing and conversation in "pan-Scandinavian" on Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm in the Big Red Barn on campus (while classes are in session). Participants can drop in at any time during that time slot.
Scandinavian film series
Within the context of the Swedish courses, the monthly Scandinavian film series is an educational-cultural venue where students introduce, view and discuss film from across Scandinavia.
Old Norse reading group (in English/Medieval Studies)
Arranged by faculty and students in English and Medieval Studies, the Old Norse reading group gathers to read Old Icelandic texts on a weekly basis. For more information, please contact Professor Thomas Hill or Danielle Cudmore.
