As a second language educator, her research and praxis centers on applications of critical linguistic and sociocultural and multimodal learning theories. Her expertise is in critical language awareness and L2 writing, and she has published in both these areas.
When not at the LRC, Emma especially enjoys jogging, reading fiction, and learning Azerbaijani.
