Global Cornell will lead Cornell’s participation in International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. This year’s events will be held virtually, Nov. 16-20.
With federally sponsored international exchange programs – including the Fulbright Program – on pause due to COVID-19, Cornell joins universities, embassies, and global organizations to advocate for student mobility and celebrate the potential of virtual international collaboration.
International Education Week @Cornell – on social media with the hashtag #IEW2020 – kicks off with a world music show, Semi-Study Break: World Music of the Moment with Global Cornell, on Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to noon featuring DJ Daniel Bass of WRFI, Ithaca. The virtual event is open to the public; registration is required.
"While we can't travel the world, we can bring the music and the message into our homes," said Bass, program manager of the South Asia Program, part of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies.
"The event will feature music released in 2020 from India, Spain, Nigeria, Jordan, Chile, USA, and beyond," Bass said. "It speaks to the moment – from coronavirus to mass incarceration to migrant identities, border walls, and the need to get up and dance."
